How to create a WordPress website with Meta Muse: Muse chat connected to a finished WordPress site

Quick Answer

The fastest way to create a WordPress website with Meta Muse is to give Muse a custom connector to 1ClickWebsite, then ask for the site in a chat. Muse has 1ClickWebsite build a complete, hosted WordPress website for the business and sends you the link, and it can then edit the site and undo any change.

  1. Create an API key on your 1ClickWebsite API Keys page.
  2. In a Muse chat at muse.ai, ask: "Build a custom connector for 1ClickWebsite. Its MCP server URL is https://www.1clickwebsite.ai/api/mcp and it uses an API key as a Bearer token."
  3. Paste the key into the secure entry card Muse shows you.
  4. Ask: "Build a website for Harbor Plumbing, a plumber in San Diego, CA."

Each new site uses one site credit from your 1ClickWebsite account.

How Muse Works With WordPress

Meta Muse is a personal AI agent: it can browse, fill in forms, and use connected services. With WordPress, that usually means one of three things:

ApproachWhat Muse doesDo you need WordPress set up first?
Muse browses your dashboardOpens WordPress in its browser and clicks through pages and settingsYes
A connector to an existing siteWrites and publishes posts on a site you already haveYes
A 1ClickWebsite connectorHas the complete hosted site built, then edits itNo

Most guides assume you already have hosting, a theme, and pages, and use Muse for the content. A 1ClickWebsite connector starts earlier: Muse asks 1ClickWebsite to build the whole website, including the homepage, service pages, service-area pages, contact page, forms, and starter copy and images, on hosting that's already set up. Working through a connector is also faster and more reliable than having Muse click through a dashboard.

What You Need

  • Meta Muse, on the web at muse.ai or in the Muse app, signed in with your Meta account.
  • A 1ClickWebsite account with site credits, and an API key from the API Keys page.
  • The business details: name, trade, city, phone, and main services.

Step 1: Create an API Key

Open the API Keys page in your 1ClickWebsite account and create a key. Copy it; you'll paste it into Muse in the next step. Treat it like a password: anyone with the key can create and edit sites on your account, and you can revoke it from the same page.

Step 2: Ask Muse to Build the Connector

Muse doesn't have a settings page for custom connectors. You ask for one in chat:

Build a custom connector for 1ClickWebsite. Its MCP server URL is
https://www.1clickwebsite.ai/api/mcp and it uses my API key as a Bearer
token in the Authorization header. Test the read-only tools, then save it
so I can use it in future chats.

Muse sets up the connector and shows a secure entry card for the key. Paste the key there, not into the chat itself. Muse keeps the key in its secure credential store. In our setup, Muse explained that the raw key never reaches the model: a helper attaches a stand-in token to each request, and the key is swapped in on the server side, only for requests to 1clickwebsite.ai.

In our test, Muse connected, found the full tool list, and ran every read-only tool against a real account, including checking credits, without touching anything that creates or changes data.

Step 3: Ask Muse to Build a Site

Using the 1ClickWebsite connector, build a website for Harbor Plumbing, a
plumber in San Diego, CA. Phone (619) 555-0134. Services: drain cleaning,
water heater repair, leak detection and repiping. Send me the link when ready.

Muse checks your credits, picks a template, and starts the build. A site takes a few minutes; ask "Is it ready?" at any time and Muse checks the build and sends you the link.

Step 4: Edit and Undo From Chat

On Harbor Plumbing, change the small text above the homepage headline to
"Trusted San Diego Plumbers", confirm it's live, then undo it.

In our test, Muse found the right field, made the change, fetched the live homepage to confirm the new text, then rolled the change back and checked again. The edit was live in under two minutes and the undo took seconds. Every change is saved as an undoable step, so you can try ideas and keep only what works.

What Else Muse Can Do With It

  • "How many credits do I have, and what are my newest sites?"
  • "Make Lead Gen demo pages for these five roofing companies and give me the links."
  • "Write a blog post about spring AC tune-ups for my HVAC site and publish it."
  • "Update the phone number on all my sites."

The connector can't buy credits, change your plan, or reach websites outside your 1ClickWebsite account.

Common Problems

Muse says it can't find the connector

Ask Muse to list its connectors. If 1ClickWebsite isn't there, repeat Step 2 in a new chat.

Muse reports an authorization error

The key may have been revoked or mistyped. Create a new key on the API Keys page and ask Muse to update the connector's credential through the secure entry card.

Out of credits

Creating a site uses one site credit. Add credits on 1clickwebsite.ai. Editing doesn't use credits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Meta Muse build a WordPress website?

Yes, with a 1ClickWebsite connector. Muse sends the business details to 1ClickWebsite, which builds a complete multi-page WordPress website on its own hosting. Without a connector, Muse can help plan and write content, but you still set up WordPress and build the pages.

Is 1ClickWebsite in Muse's connector directory?

It has been submitted for review. Until it's listed, set it up as a custom connector as shown above.

Does Muse see my API key?

No. You paste the key into Muse's secure entry card, and it's stored in Muse's secure credential store rather than in the conversation.

Do I need to install WordPress first?

No. 1ClickWebsite creates the WordPress installation, theme, pages, and hosting as part of the build.

Sources and Review Notes

We tested this setup in Muse on the web on October 4–5, 2026: building the custom connector, storing the key, running the read-only tools, and making, confirming, and undoing a live edit. Site creation uses the same 1ClickWebsite server we tested end to end in ChatGPT and Claude.
